Built specifically for cruise passengers docking in Belfast with a limited window ashore, this shore excursion combines a guided Dunluce Castle stop, the Giant's Causeway, and a city tour of Belfast into one timed itinerary. Pickup and return are coordinated with typical cruise port schedules rather than a standard hotel pickup, which matters if you're working against a ship's departure time. It's a practical option for seeing both the coast and the city in a single excursion rather than choosing between them.

- Guided Dunluce Castle stop
Free cancellation up to 24 hours in advance

It sits between the budget shared coaches and the small-group premium options — a solid default choice if you're not sure which tier to pick.

Dunluce Castle, Titanic Experience & Giant's Causeway Tour

A practical option if you're short on days in Northern Ireland and want to consolidate two separate outings into one.

About
About Dunluce Castle
History
Dunluce Castle stands on a basalt outcrop above the Atlantic, with the current ruins dating to before 1513 under the McQuillan clan, the medieval "Lords of the Route." The MacDonnells seized it in the mid-1500s, and Sorley Boy MacDonnell famously recaptured it in 1584 after losing it to English forces the year before. In 1639, a storm collapsed part of the castle's kitchen into the sea below, killing several servants — a turning point after which the MacDonnells gradually abandoned the site.
Legends and the Screen
Dunluce is the setting for the banshee legend of Maeve Roe, locked in a turret by her father for refusing an arranged marriage, and for tales tied to a hidden sea cave beneath the ruins. More recently, its silhouette became Castle Greyjoy in Game of Thrones — a connection covered in full on our Game of Thrones blog post.

Access
Dunluce Castle sits on the Causeway Coastal Route, 12 minutes' drive from the Giant's Causeway and 6 minutes from the Old Bushmills Distillery. On-site parking is limited; the Magheracross car park, a 10-minute walk away, is the main overflow option and also gives one of the best photo viewpoints of the ruins.

Reviews
Dunluce Castle Tours Reviews
Our guide on the Game of Thrones tour knew exactly where the film crew stood to shoot the Pyke exterior — small detail, but it made the stop feel worth the drive.
Went in with low expectations after reading it's "just a ruin" and left completely won over by the cliff-edge setting alone.
Booked the shared coach option and it was efficient, though the castle stop itself felt a touch rushed at 45 minutes.
Our driver-guide told us about the 1639 kitchen collapse right as we stood over the spot — genuinely chilling with the wind picking up.
Paired with the Giant's Causeway in one day and the pacing worked well; wouldn't try to add a third stop though.
Parking was exactly as tight as we'd read — glad we'd planned for the Magheracross overflow lot in advance.
The private tour let us linger at the castle almost an hour longer than the coach groups moving through — worth it for photography.
Our kids were more into the "Game of Thrones castle" framing than the medieval history, and honestly that hook kept them engaged the whole visit.
Windy doesn't begin to cover it — bring a proper jacket even in July.
Booked last minute and still found a seat on the Belfast day tour — pleasantly surprised given how popular this route is in summer.
